In July Downtown Guelph had it’s Annual Art on the Street event full of paintings, photography, sculptures and (just as I had hoped) a bunch of hand-made jewellery (jewelry if you’re American).
I went last year and saw this work from Karli Sears. The hand blown glass bubbles are tougher than they look – and they [...]

There’s nothing scarier then hearing that there’s going to be a change at one of your favourite restaurants. So I’ll just come out and say it.
Diana Downtown at 141 Wyndham St. has a new owner/manager.
Don’t panic. The only thing they’ve changed so far is the curtains.
The new manager’s name is Shelina, which happens to be [...]

This musical mural lives above Guelph Music at 58 Carden St.
I don’t play myself – I have other talents – but I love looking at this awesome, beat-up 3D collage with the real strings on the guitar, the giant drum stick stickin’ out, and I wish I could reach up and turn the amp knobs [...]

Occasionally, I like to indulge in a little something sweet…
Whatever. I’ll dive into dessert as soon as the server says brulee.
This one’s vanilla creme brulee from @mosphere on Carden Street. Definitely worth saving room in my tummy.
I am not a big fan of the rest of their current menu, but it changes with the seasons, [...]

OK sometimes people have a bad day, so I give ‘em a second chance.
I have been to Salon Butterfly in Old Quebec Street Shoppes a few times, hoping to come out of the place less hairy than when I went in.
During my first leg wax, I was burned (literally) and this time there are significant [...]

Till now this blog has featured a sunny-side-up look at downtown Guelph.
Well folks, it’s not all good. I was at Frugal MacDougall’s on Baker Street for a party, and they forgot the reservation for 20 people, including the pre-paid $185 appetizer platters. So, they were seriously understaffed. When we did order food it took 2 hours [...]

The dishes served at Bollywood Bistro at 51 Cork St. are made with love, and it shows. Samosa and pakora are served with an artistic and tasty swirl of tamarind sauce, and a spicy cliantro sauce for dipping.
You can taste the love too. That’s why I have no photos of my main course – I [...]

There was a warm spell earlier this month and I was so excited to
wear my new dress from DLR on Carden Street.
I am new to ruffles, and a fan of colour, so I am looking for accessory suggestions to give this grey dress a little more life. I wore it with red flats, and I [...]

I needed a break from brown bag lunches (translation: I slept in) so I went to Blue Ribbon on Quebec Street.
This tasty vegetarian wrap and Greek salad hit the spot . I was able to sit at the counter and enjoy it with time to spare on my lunch hour.
They’ve got great grilled sandwiches, salads, and super tasty treats [...]

Sure the heritage buildings are beautiful, and there are lots of lovely old churches, but look down and check out the street itself.
This intersection at Woolwich St. and Eramosa Rd. is rather distinctive don’t you think?
The city’s name’s right in there, and the markings make it easy for drivers and pedestrians to look out for [...]
